October Finished Projects

1. More underwear! Leftover fabric, free pattern, purchased elastic. (Two pairs on October 2, one on October 8) I'm really enjoying making myself underwear out of leftover knit from other projects.  I really need to try to make a bra next...
2. Pink workout pants that I started a couple years ago and never finished.  Used my standard McCalls leggings pattern, but shortened them to capri length.  Purchased fabric and elastic, stash thread. (October 6)
3. Black leggings.  Again, standard McCalls leggings pattern, purchased fabric and elastic, stash thread. (October 6)

4. 1970s fall floral corduroy jumper.  Purchased fabric and pattern (one of the seventies vintage ones I bought earlier this year), stash thread and hook and eyes. (October 11)
5. Scrub top for my mom.  Stash pattern that I've made her several times, purchased fabric. (October 15)
6. Striped Deer and Doe Bruyere.  Purchased fabric and pattern (but it's the second time using the pattern, does it count as stash?) and pearl snaps. Also used some stash black solid fabric and stash thread.  The main body and sleeves are striped, but I used black for the collar, cuffs, waistband and button placket for a variety of reasons: to break up the stripes, didn't have enough stripes and to save me from trying to pattern match. (October 18) 

   

   I did the back yoke with the stripes running the opposite direction for both prettyness and so I didn't have to match the pattern.

7. Finally finished my brother's navy button up shirt!  Purchased everything, except maybe thread. (October 20)
8. Purple on purple print Lane raglan tshirt.  Purchased fabric, I'm calling the pattern stash, and stash thread.  The neckline got a bit stretched out so I'm not super happy with it.  I'm not sure if its a pattern issue and I need to raise the neckline or if it was a fabric issue.  I'm thinking the latter, because the neckline on the other Lane Raglan I made (rashguard) is just fine.  I think this knit was too stretchy for the neck binding. (October 21)  I actually might just end up making another tshirt, not a raglan because it's supposed to go with something else I'm working on and if I don't like the fit, I'll never wear the shirt...
9. Purple sweatshirt fleece skirt.  Purchased fabric, stash pattern, thread and elastic. I'm still working on the matching hoodie. (October 24)

10. Blue and red plaid flannel pullover from another 1970s vintage pattern.  Purchased fabric and pattern, stash thread and seam binding. (October 27)

August and September Finished Projects

• Two pairs of underwear (August 6th) -- leftover fabric, free pattern, stash thread, purchased elastic.  It's the Rosy Ladyshorts pattern.
• Repaired a pair of pants for my mother (August 12)
• Hemmed my father's workout pants (August 12)
• Green shirtdress (August 14) -- I think I purchased everything except the white thread. It also didn't turn out that great, I don't know if it was a poor fabric choice, or if it was the wrong size, or a combination of the two.  Pattern was McCalls 7351, view B but I added pockets to the skirt

I finished the sleeve seams because the sleeves roll up and they'd be exposed.

• Fixed my Flower Power dress, used leftover pink cotton to patch an underarm hole and put a matching match on the other side so it'd be even (August 15)
• 1916 National Park Centennial suspender skirt (August 22) -- purchased pattern and fabric, stash thread and buttons

I was at Fort Necessity NB on the Centennial and they LOVED my outfit so they posted in online!

• Slip (August 22) -- stash pattern (same Burda that I used last time) and thread, purchased fabric and fold over elastic
• Racerback dress (free download from Hey June) for Briella (August 23) -- free pattern, purchased fabric, stash fabric and thread

• Took in two skirts for Briella
• OSU skirt for Briella -- stash fabric and elastic, no pattern
• Cinderella dress for Briella -- stash everything (all on September 3). Used the 1950s Simplicity dress pattern I used for her daisy dress, but there's not a sash.

Thirteen projects in August and September, but I've lost count of my total projects for the year.  I'll have to figure that out.  Not much sewing has been going on lately, because life has been REALLY crazy.  Thankfully I think most of the crazy is taken care of so now I need to concentrate on getting settled into my new place (sewed for the first time there last night!) and working on my fall winter to do list. 

Finished Projects - June and July

1. 1930s McCalls 7153 Archive Collection TARDIS dress (June 4) -- Fabric was bought a while ago when JoAnn's first started carrying the Doctor Who collection.  Pattern was bought because I liked it.  I decided a while back to use them together, so I'm not really sure if this qualifies as a stash project or not.  Thread was stash.


2. Blue seersucker with dragonflies dress for my mom (June 19) -- Fabric was purchased for a scrub top, but mom asked for a dress instead.  Stash pattern and thread, purchased ribbon for the drawstring.  I used the same pattern that I did last year to make a gauze dress.

3. Finished a pair of drawstring pants that I started like 15 years ago (June 26) -- I'm calling this one a stash project since it was a UFO from more than a decade ago.

4. Altered a 1950s jumper I made several years ago while sitting in my mom's hospital room.  The armscyes were cut too high, so I took out the stitching, cut out about half an inch of fabric or so and restitched them.  I have since worn it and it's better, maybe not perfect but at least better. (July 8)

5. Hemmed my father's suit pants to wear to his father's funeral (July 11)

6. Backpack for my summer vacation (July 30) -- purchased everything, except thread.

I altered the pattern to have a Sigmund pocket as well as a water bottle pocket on the other side.

7. 1950s blue jumper / dress (July 30) -- Stash pattern and thread, purchased zipper, fabric was purchased for a dress but not with this pattern in mind.



8. Swim leggings (July 31) to go with the Lane Raglan rashguard I made earlier this year -- some stash fabric, some purchased, stash thread and pattern.  I used McCalls 7261, shortened to knee length.  I lined the upper sections with swimsuit lining and the skirt portion was self drafted. 



9. 1970s blue plisse dress from a vintage pattern (July 31) -- purchased fabric and pattern, stash thread.


10. Bag for my mother (July 31) -- stash fabric (leftover from the blue jumper I made myself) and thread, purchased pattern and webbing for the strap, I also used a leftover magnetic snap that I bought for my backpack.

Finished Projects - May

1. Purple dragonfly seersucker dress with popover. Purchased fabric, pattern and zipper; stash thread. (May 9th)

   Same pattern as my French terry hoodie, but no hood and with cream lace layover on the back and appliqued on the sleeves

3. French terry tank top and skirt.  Fabric was left over from my hoodie and pants, purchased pattern.(May 15th)
   

   

   Just the skirt!  McCalls has this Learn to Sew line that I'm kind of in love with for quick and easy projects.

4. Lane Raglan rashguard.  Purchased fabric, some fabric was stash, some was purchased.     (May 23rd)
   

   

   The paisley is actually super bright obnoxious colors, but it didn't photograph very well.

5. Blue-green Plantain shirt, Deer and Doe pattern.  Free pattern, purchased fabric and thread. (May 30th)
6. A pair of Lady Shorts from some left over knit.  Free pattern, stash fabric and thread, purchased elastic. (May 20th)
7. Kilt for my dad from an old pair of jeans.  (May 28th)
8. Black poly-cotton scrub jacket for my mom.  Purchased fabric and pattern, stash thread.     (May 29th)

    The pattern needs a lot of changes before I make another. The waist, sleeves and back are all a little tight, so I retraced almost the entire pattern in a larger size, and also lengthened the bottom and the sleeves.  But I still love this one!

1. Snake print 3/4 sleeve tshirt using left over fabric from the dress I made last year (February 9) - stash everything
2. Sarong for a friend (February 6) - friend purchased fabric and thread
3. Navy blue 3/4 sleeve tshirt using left over fabric from cutting out the next item (February 12) - stash everything (since it was leftover fabric)
4. Navy blue wrap sweater from a BurdaStyle pattern.  This was a make nine. (February 13) - purchased fabric and pattern, stash thread                                 
5. Nightgown for my little cousin out of Star Wars flannel. This ended up too big for the little thing. She'll grow into it, right? (February 17) - stash fabric and thread, purchased pattern
6. 1970s denim skirt from a Simplicity reprint (February 24) - purchased everything except thread
7. Green scrub top for mama (February 20) - stash thread and pattern, she bought the fabric
8. Star Wars dress, Butterick reprint retro pattern (February 25) - stash pattern and thread, purchased fabric

Finished Projects - January 2016

I'm planning on posting monthly updates of my completed projects, that way I can keep better track of what I'm sewing and when instead of having to go back and figure it out later. 

1. Daisy scrub top for my mother - January 1st.  She bought the fabric a while back, I used the same pattern I always do for her scrub tops and some of the overwhelming amount of navy thread I have in my stash.
2. Grey and navy Tshirt for myself - January 2nd. Stash pattern and thread, purchased fabric.
3. Grey and black Tshirt for myself - January 2nd. Stash pattern and thread, purchased fabric.
4. Green Tshirt for my little cousin (aka mini-me) - January 9th. Stash pattern and thread, purchased fabric (remnant).
5. Purple Tshirt for mini-me - January 9th. Stash everything, used left over fabric and thread from the purple Tshirt I made myself last year. 
6. Cream leggings for mini-me - January 24th. Stash everything, used left over fabric and thread from making myself a tshirt, and the pattern was a free downloadable I found online.  It's for 18 months to 12 years, so I traced off the appropriate size for Briella.  Figured I might need the other sizes later!
7. Blue jeans for myself - January 9th. This was a sewing goal for 2016 as well as one of my 2016makenine patterns.  Purchased fabric and pattern (BurdaStyle download), used thread from my stash.
8. Purple leggings for mini-me - January 24th. Stash everything, used left over fabric and thread from the purple Tshirt I made myself last year. And the same downloadable pattern I used for the cream leggings.
9. Pajama pants for Corbin (my cousin's oldest) - January 24th. Stash everything.
10. Pajama pants for Alex (my cousin's middle son) - January 24th. Stash everything.
11. Workout top - January 17th.  Stash everything (I think).  I used leftover fabric from my workout pants, and the tshirt pattern I'm obsessed with.  I just shortened the sleeves to elbow length.  It's pretty cute, if I do say so myself. :)
12. Paris 1930s vest - January 20th.  Purchased and stash fabric, purchased snap tape because I didn't feel like messing with buttons.  Stash thread and pattern that was purchased forever ago.
13. Gold skirt - January 19th.  Last year, I cut out a pencil skirt out of this crazy gold fabric, satin with fabric flowers all over, that I bought a remnant of.  The colors of the steampunk group I belong to, the Airship Archon, are gold and black so I tend to gravitate towards anything I find that would be appropriate. As I started putting it together, I realized that it wouldn't work as a pencil skirt because I couldn't dart it.  So I just sewed all the seams, zigzagged some elastic to the top and hemmed it with some hem tape.  I figured that I'd just have to wear it with a corset to over the waistband. Maybe a black satin apron that I have so I can wear my airship uniform corset because the golds are (of course) different.
14. 1856 Walking Cage Crinoline - January 30th.  I'm finally making progress on my mid nineteenth century dreams!! Also I have an awesome father, he helped me out by cutting the steel boning and crimping the edges together for me. I've had almost everything for so long that you could probably consider it stash...Part of my 2016makenine

Summer Projects Completed before 8/26/2015

1. Modded a pair of jeans that I never wore into a knee length denim pencil skirt.  Used some black poly cotton for a little back center godet to ensure I could walk.


2. Dalek print 1960s dress.  I attempted sleeves but just went sleeveless when they weren't working.  Pattern: Simplicity 3833, fabric was from the Doctor Who line Joanns has been carrying.

3. High waisted leopard print shorts.  I made them to wear to a wrestling show in honor of one of my favorite divas, Carmella, but I've been working on dressing modestly so they may never get worn again.


4. A funky knit dress with kimono sleeves and a drapey neckline.  I fell in love with the fabric on the clearance table and found a pattern that would work.  I should make more knit things, because it was so freaking easy!

5. Reused my funky caftan pattern (the zodiac dress I made last year) to make a dress that matches a skirt I made my mom in a bird print shirting.  I didn't have enough for a full length dress, so it's around my knees.  The other issue is that directional fabric doesn't work for that pattern.  I have upside down birds on my back.  I should've done a solid bodice, but c'est la vie!



6. A little dress for my cousin's youngest, aka my mini me, in purple butterfly print cotton. 


7. Speedy from Arrow cosplay consumed most of my summer.  It was for Chicago Comic Con which was last weekend and involved: altering a pattern, quilting pleather, spray painting eyelets and a bow, making a quiver... Told it was consuming!!

8. And I put the binding on a baby quilt that my cousin made.
