Summer Projects Completed before 8/26/2015

1. Modded a pair of jeans that I never wore into a knee length denim pencil skirt.  Used some black poly cotton for a little back center godet to ensure I could walk.

2. Dalek print 1960s dress.  I attempted sleeves but just went sleeveless when they weren't working.  Pattern: Simplicity 3833, fabric was from the Doctor Who line Joanns has been carrying.

3. High waisted leopard print shorts.  I made them to wear to a wrestling show in honor of one of my favorite divas, Carmella, but I've been working on dressing modestly so they may never get worn again.

4. A funky knit dress with kimono sleeves and a drapey neckline.  I fell in love with the fabric on the clearance table and found a pattern that would work.  I should make more knit things, because it was so freaking easy!

5. Reused my funky caftan pattern (the zodiac dress I made last year) to make a dress that matches a skirt I made my mom in a bird print shirting.  I didn't have enough for a full length dress, so it's around my knees.  The other issue is that directional fabric doesn't work for that pattern.  I have upside down birds on my back.  I should've done a solid bodice, but c'est la vie!

6. A little dress for my cousin's youngest, aka my mini me, in purple butterfly print cotton.

7. Speedy from Arrow cosplay consumed most of my summer.  It was for Chicago Comic Con which was last weekend and involved: altering a pattern, quilting pleather, spray painting eyelets and a bow, making a quiver... Told it was consuming!!

8. And I put the binding on a baby quilt that my cousin made.

What Miss Wilde Did This Weekend

  1. Finish the commission. - DONE and will be handed off tomorrow
  2. Halloween skirt - Still need to finish the zipper and closure, but its not a priority. Deadline: October.
  3. Femme Joker - Lots of progress here! Tried on the skirt and took it in. Also made the zipper larger because there was no way to wear that slim of a skirt without a longer zipper. It still needs taken in maybe another half inch. It's also too long. The base of the jacket is put together, but I think it needs some darts in the back to help it fit better. Then comes the collar and the lining (still need to buy lining fabric...) The blouse is cut out, but I haven't started assembly yet. Deadline: end of September
  4. Nursing cover for my sister in law - Fabric has been bought and prewashed. Deadline: probably October-ish.
  5. AAR Tour Wear: I have a leggings pattern picked out, just waiting for it to go on sale. I also have some tunic plans, but will need to purchase fabric for said tunics. Deadline: September / October
  6. Hellhound cosplay: Realized I already have part of it - a blue scarf! I have a jacket pattern picked out but am unsure right now if it'll work or not. Currently thinking jeans, boots, tshirt, scarf and a cool jacket. All I'll probably have to make is the jacket. Oh and a wand. Definitely gonna have to make a wand. Deadline: Don't have one. Maybe end of September, maybe not til January for Ohayocon.
  7. Christmas nightgown: Pulled the fabric and patterns out the other day. I'm going to have to get a matching print to do part of the nightgown in because I definitely don't have enough of the nativity print cotton to do a long nightgown like I want to.  Deadline: Christmas (obviously)

Mid Ohio Con 2011

I spent most of the weekend in my Imperial Officer's uniform representing the 501st Legion. Thankfully, I was allowed to wear my skirt. However the skirt is just a smidgen too short and shows one of my leg tattoos.

Photo by Matthew Wells. Even though I spent most of the weekend in this costume, I have very few pictures of it. Oh well.

I spent a few hours Saturday as steampunk Harley Quinn, hanging out with my friend Nin Ja (aka Jesse) who cosplays as Joker.

A solo shot of Steampunk Harley by my friend Corielle Riddell.

With Nin Ja (as steampunk Joker) from his camera, taken by a nice con attendee. (I asked her to take our picture by complimenting her Star Wars tshirt. lol)

Another with Nin Ja, taken by the same con attendee. I seriously love this photo by the way. I look just a touch devious, which I think is appropriate for such a Victorian Harley Quinn.

Sadly, you can't see my awesome stockings in any of these photos. They are the Harlequin and Heart Thigh Highs from Sock Dreams (best website EVER by the way). I could NOT resist mismatched red black and white thigh highs especially when harlequin diamonds were involved.
